How Paary works
Six rules. Everything in the app follows them.
Private stays private.
Your partner sees only what you choose to show of your own wallets: nothing, that a wallet exists, or its balance. Your personal entries stay private. Shared costs are visible to both of you: what, how much, and who paid. The wallet you paid from is shown only if you have chosen to show it.
Example: your own account is private. Your partner sees the €60 you paid for groceries, not the account, not its balance, not the coffee you bought after.
You record only in your own wallets and in the ones you own together.
A wallet you own together is money you share. It counts for both of you.
Example: Giulia and Luca own the household account together, so both record in it. Luca's own account is his: Giulia sees what he shows her and records nothing in it.
Every entry says who paid and who it was for.
That is all Paary needs for the Balance between you. Every number opens the entries behind it.
Example: Giulia pays €60 for groceries for both of you. Luca is now €30 behind. Tap the €30 and you see the groceries.
You change your entries.
Your partner changes theirs.
Example: Giulia records the €120 plumber from the shared wallet. Luca sees it and “Recorded by Giulia”. Only Giulia can change or delete it.
Changing an entry changes only that entry.
Correct the amount, and who paid, who it was for and the split stay as they were.
Example: Giulia corrects €60 to €65. Luca is now €32.50 behind. Nothing else changed.
Settling up clears everything recorded so far.
An entry you add or correct later moves the Balance by exactly that amount.
Example: you settle up on the 1st. On the 5th Giulia finds a receipt from the 28th and adds it. The Balance shows just that receipt's share, and the next settle-up clears it.
